Gerber Poultry has started using the 'Where Food Comes From' labeling program on its Gerber's Amish Farm Chicken products.

The labeling program uses QR codes for smartphones to offer detailed information to its consumers regarding the production of food products in order to help them take better decision.

The company has made the program available at Heinen's grocery stores stores in Ohio and Illinois, US.

Heinen co-president Tom Heinen said the firm is continually seeking ways to help its customers make informed choices about the foods they purchase.

"We are elated to now include Gerber's Amish Farm Chicken into our growing ranks of products certified by the Where Food Comes From program," Heinen added.

Gerber's Amish Farm Chicken products have been certified under the 'Where Food Comes From' program and are currently available for purchase at all Heinen's store locations.
